I grew up in Edwardsville, Illinois, just a hop skip and jump away from St. Louis. I haven't had a Choco-dile in YEARS. Of course, I don't really miss them all that much.<br /><br />Dolly Madison Fruit Pies are another thing altogether.

Ah, Choco-diles! Rad. I totally forgot about those. They are like twinkies covered in that waxy chocolate that is on Ding-Dongs. Mom used to tuck these in my lunch when I was a tyke in St. Louis. They seem to be a midwestern thing. I wonder why the hostess site doesn't mention them?
Another thing I recall is a soda called "Mr. Pibb", which was like a knock-off Dr. Pepper. I've never seen it here in the D.P. capital.

Mmmmmm - I love Chocodiles. The local Circle K still sells them for 39 cents each. Does anybody remember the old commercials, with the animated Chocodile singing "It takes a while to eat a Chocodile"???

Oh boy!<br /><br />My Great Grandmother, who passed away a few years ago, would always send my sister and I a box of Goo Goo Clusters every X-mas. Funny thing was, I'd always forget about them until my mother handed me the (obviously) hand wrapped package with my Great Grandmother's wobbly script on the tag. They were a constant reminder of her, and now that she's gone, every X-mas seems to lack that quality.<br /><br />When I was back in Nashville for my Grandparent's 50th wedding anniversary, I picked up a few boxes, for posterity's sake.

Yup Moon Pies come from Chattanooga, TN. That's where I'm from. :) So I grew up with those things. Although, I was never really fond of them. But if you're from Chatt-town you have to eat one periodically to be considered American. (joke). And GooGoo clusters? Aren't they from Nashville? I remember my Grandmother LOVED GooGoo clusters. Again, another candy I didn't really like. Oddly, though, I crave Moon Pies when I'm away from home. By the way, have you experiences a hot-off-the-line Krispy Kreme donut? You haven't lived till you've had one.

Yeah, chocodiles were great. I used to get them with my dad all the time. I haven't seen them since I moved to Kirksville, and maybe it's better that way. The ratings for the ol' chocodile don't seem to be that high, and perhaps it's better that I have an idealized rememberance of days gone by.

I haven't heard of the Chocodiles yet, though I have had my share of Krispy Kremes, Moon Pies, and Goo Goo Clusters in Louisiana and Arkansas (where I currently exist).

I have been looking for choco-diles for years (pretty inconsistently I must add) and can't find them anywhere. Where are they still sold?

Chocodiles are rad. I know that you could still get them in Arizona before I left there, but that was back in '92 so who knows if they still have them. Best place to check is the "Hostess" day old bread stores. Used to get them in bulk for about half the price. Anyway, when I lived in Texas, they didn't have them. We tried to get the grocery store to special order them, but their distributor said they'd never heard of one, so its DEFINITELY a regional thing. Haven't tried finding one here in Oregon, but since the natives here think I'm making them up I don't think I'll bother. Anyway, good luck to all who still have a quest to find one.
