I finally broke down and installed Microsoft Office 2000 on my old Pentium-200 Win 98 box that I had set up as a spare computer in my office (because Star Office isn’t hacking it as a replacement). Imagine my suprise when I discovered Office 2000 runs much more quickly than on the Pentium-III 550 Win 2000 machine in my office. Turns out Office is run from a CD server on all university machines. Looks like I’ll be doing most of my work on the older computer from now on…

Me too. The HipTop is exactly the cell phone / PDA combination unit I’ve been looking for to replace my aging Palm IIIe. The way the screen slides out to reveal the mini keyboard is incredibly sexy. All the reports say that it will be coming out sometime Spring 2002, and I’m crossing my fingers that the wireless service will extend to Kirksville.
How cool would it be to have wireless web access so I could schedule shows on my TiVo and turn my x10-controlled lights on and off from the other side of campus?

Church v. Google

I’ve read a number of articles about Scientology over the past couple of years and the more I read the more I wonder how anyone could ever buy into it.
