One of my students ran inside my office today and told me there was an enormous bird behind the building eating a rabbit — and lo and behold there was. It made me sick to my stomach seeing the fur spread across the grass and watching the bird tear away at the hind legs of the rabbit.

Like a lot of other bloggers, I’m suffering from the November doldrums (and the effects of DST).

I’ve also been feeling limited by the format of this weblog, so I’ve been tinkering under the hood and am about to give it a new coat of paint as well. Forget trackback pings and categories and all the other bells and whistles — we’re going to return to a simpler time.

It’s part of a whole streamlining process I’m trying to apply to all aspects of my life. If I’m going to find a job and move to New York, I need to reduce the amount of baggage holding me back… and one of the luxuries I’ll probably have to give up is running my own linux server. Thus, I need to simplify my CMS code to run on a standard web server account.
