Cheapskate vs. Laziness Part 2.

One way or another, I’ll be moving in a month — to either a new job or my parents’ basement. So, I spent the day cleaning out my closet and filling six big boxes to donate to the Salvation Army. Half the clothes moved here with me three years ago, because I hate to throw anything out — who knows? maybe I’ll fit into those size 30 pants again some day? Right.

But in the end, laziness won out because I know I’ve got to thin out my possessions so I’ll have less stuff to load into my mom’s minivan when I move. Of course, my cheapskate side got the last laugh when I insisted the nice old ladies at the Salvation Army give me back the six boxes I brought the stuff in.

Debate: President Bush vs. Governor

Debate: President Bush vs. Governor Bush. An oldie, but a goodie. Probably the most inspired thing I’ve ever seen on The Daily Show.

Condoms in schools not linked to teen sex rate. Great. Now maybe we convince our university to let us distribute condoms in the residence halls.

Back in the saddle.

I set off today at 5pm for another campus job interview. I finally got some feedback after my last (unsuccessful) campus visit, so I feel a little more prepared this time. I had to prepare a 30 minute presentation for students as part of interview (I chose the topic of “Career Portfolios”), which accounts for why I haven’t posted much over the past week or so. With any luck, I will soon be gainfully employed once more.

The perfect example of the internal battle of my laziness vs. cheapskateness? Going out in the pouring rain to return a rental DVD the next day to get a $1 credit on my account, and then forefeiting it by sticking it in the drop box because I don’t want to have to park and walk inside the store.
