Packing
I’m trying to figure out what I should take to NY when I fly out next Monday (and what I should put into storage at my parents).
I figure I’ll pack my clothes, my computer, my TiVo, and my CDs. But otherwise, I don’t know what is easily (and cheaply) bought in NY vs. what I should try to ship out there. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Temporary blog location
So, while I’m packing and moving everything (including my server), my blog will be temporarily located at http://mattkingston.blogspot.com (hitormiss.org should redirect here soon) — because some lame-o who only posted once 2 years ago claimed http://hitormiss.blogspot.com.
When I set my server up again (if I can use my ethernet connection to host my site), I’ll transfer all these posts into my own CMS.

Moving to NYC
I officially accepted a job today at New School University in Manhattan. I’ll be the director of a 17 floor apartment building at 84 William Street (down in the Financial District).

At the risk of my weblog becoming solely about my job search, I’d like to announce that I’ve been offered a position in Manhattan and I think I’ll be offered the position in Wisconsin as well. There are a lot of pluses and minuses for both positions, so I’m going to spend a pretty sleepless night trying to make up my mind.

Another day, another interview.
I leave tomorrow for yet another campus interview (#4), this time in Wisconsin. 8 hours in a rental car.
I’m rethinking my job search. The Midwest hasn’t been that bad to me over the past 10 years. Maybe this will be the match made in heaven.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Hoping for a repeat of three years ago, I stolled into my local bookstore around 11:55 pm Friday to pick up the new Harry Potter book. However, this time the entire store was packed. I waited in line for 50 minutes and got one of the last of the 300 copies they had in stock. The next day I found out Walmart put it on sale at 11pm for $2 cheaper.
But is the book any good? I think I’m more aware this time of the limits imposed by the young adult novel format. I wanted to slap Harry upside the head for being such a whiny little brat throughout the book. But then an amazing amount of backstory exposition was squeezed into the last chapter, so I’m now of course eagerly awaiting the next novel.
P.S. - why the hell is the original novel being released in Latin? What next, Esperanto?
