Curses!
Don’t you just hate it when you’re working on a new feature and someone else introduces it before you finish? I’ve been helping Jake develop a NYC event calendar (sortable by category) for Gothamist using the upcoming.org XML feeds. We’ve been waiting for Andy to add some new elements that I sketched out to the feed before debuting it.
And, low and behold, Everything NY just introduced a NYC event calendar using upcoming.org’s XML feed (with a pretty cool page layout).
But our calender will be way cooler. Did I mention sorting by category?

Halloween Plans
Tonight: Dinner at Il Bagatto with my cousin and aunt & uncle.
Friday: Watch the Village Halloween Parade with the TinMan (does that mean I should dress like the Scarecrow?).
Saturday: Go shopping for a half-priced day-after-Halloween costume for the party being thrown by the first guy I went on a date with in NYC, who now just wants to be friends.
Sunday: Catch the final performance of The Mystery of Edwin Drood in Brooklyn and vote for my favorite murderer, Princess Puffer.

Nextel Walkie-Talkies
The only thing worse than congested NYC sidewalks with everyone shouting into their cellphones is hearing the Nextel walkie-talkies squawk back. But I have to admit, the technology behind the feature is pretty cool. I see this as a real consumer level first-step along the way to VoIP handsets.
