Booking a flight

Jeff (Thom’s Jeff, not my Jeff) writes about the difficulties in buying airline tickets. I suffer from the same mix of procrastination and paralysis in trying to analyze the cheapest fares and most convenient times. Since moving to New York, I’ve also had to deal with picking between 3 different airports.

It took far too long for me to buy airplane tickets for (my) Jeff and I to visit Chattanooga in October for my brother’s wedding. In order to get a decent price and flight schedule, we’re going to have to get to JFK for a 6:30am flight. JFK is the one airport I haven’t flown in or out of yet, so I’m trying to look upon it as an adventure and not a challenge that could result in Jeff and my missing our flights.

Or maybe it took so long for me to buy the tickets because I’m still not convinced I’m actually taking my boyfriend home to meet the rest of my family.

Same Sex in the City

The rumor went around yesterday about Cynthia Nixon planning to come out as a lesbian. Which she did today.

Somehow, I thought I had already heard she was gay. When Jeff and I saw her in April in the audience at “First Lady Suite,” she was with a woman I assumed was her partner. Interestingly, the last segment of that show featured Eleanor Roosevelt (who Nixon has just signed on to play in a HBO movie) and her rumored lesbian lover, Lorena Hickok.

Replacing my Ipod Battery

Frustrated that my Ipod battery seems to discharge quickly, I ordered a replacement battery and attempted to take my Ipod apart last night. 45 minutes later, I had managed to slice open my thumb and still hadn’t gotten the top off.

I had previously installed a hack that shows a number instead of the battery graphic on the Ipod screen. Since the number usually wavered around 430 — even after a full night’s charge –I figured the battery was going to die. Turns out the maximum number is 500, so maybe my Ipod was healthier than I realized. Now I have a battery ready for when it does (inevitably) fail. As long as I can manage to get the top off.
