Kenny vs. Spenny Season 1

How great a boyfriend is Jeff? He bought me the 1st Season DVD of Kenny vs. Spenny. Now I can revel in childish competition whenever I want.

Size Queen

I’ve got Christmas/Chanukah money burning a hole in my pocket and I’ve decided I want a new computer monitor. I’ve had my current 15″ LCD monitor for three years and it still works fine. But I have a 19″ LCD monitor in my office, so it’d be nice to have a comparable-sized one at home.

But it’s a slippery slope. As long as I’m getting a new monitor, it’d be nice to get a widescreen model, so I could watch movies on it. As long as I’d be getting a widescreen monitor, it’d be nice to get one with an integreted TV tuner, so I’ll be ready for HDTV. As long as I’d be getting a HDTV capable set, I should upgrade to HD cable. To say nothing of getting a new graphics card so I can connect with a DVI cable instead of a VGA one.

I’m pretty confused with what’s happening with HDTV. Wasn’t the entire broadcast industry supposed to be switched over by now? I hate to contemplate buying a new display without taking the (near?) future into consideration.

Butterfly pats

What’s with all the kissy-kissy amongst my gay peeps lately? I’ve been to 3 (mostly-gay) social gatherings this week and I’ve been “pecked” to pieces. Meanwhile, I’ve been giving back my awkward “butterfly pats.” I’ve never been good at giving or receiving hugs. At least I know one gay man who enjoys a firm handshake.

QueerFilter Update

I’ve been spending most of my freetime lately working on QueerFilter.com, the GLBT Blog Directory/Aggregator that I’ve run (in one form or another) for the past 6 years.

Recently, I’ve added the ability for users to create a personalized list of blogs they want to read (kind of like a gay-Bloglines.com). I also added a user forum.

I’m really more of a programmer than a designer, so I struggle with figuring out how to make the site easier to use / more attractive. There’s no real model to follow, because other blog aggregators don’t use the same “filtering” concept that QF does. And I’m pretty clueless on how best to promote the site.

Any thoughts?

Strike Continues

What kind of messed up commute from one end of an island to another involves two buses, a train and a boat via a detour to another state?

Andy‘s been my favorite writer about the Transit Strike this week.
