Predestined: The Anatomy of Gayface
"I believe it has something to do with the inability of gay men to relax their fucking facial muscles, likely a result of extreme self-consciousness. The result is perpetually expressive eyebrows, two rows of teeth showing most of the time, wide eyes, sev.

Broadway on YouTube
Who knew that YouTube hosted more than home movies and viral videos?
I was looking for news about the upcoming film version of Dreamgirls and found the following video clips on YouTube:
- Behind the Scenes (much longer the clip on the Dreamworks website)
- The Fight Scene & “I am Telling You I’m Not Going” (from Dreamgirls in Concert)
- A H&M commercial using the music from Dreamgirls (this version on David LaChapelle’s website is higher quality)
There’s tons of clips from Wicked, Rent, and Phantom of the Opera; but YouTube also has some more deliciously obscure clips. Here’s a few highlights:
- The original deleted ending from the film version of Little Shop of Horrors
- Stephanie Mills singing “Home” (from The Wiz)
- Mine, All Mine (a song added to the UK version of Bat Boy)
- Josh Groban singing “Anthem” (from Chess in Concert)
- John Hill & Michael Arden singing the title song from Bare
- A mashup of songs from Annie, sung by casts around the world (the Australian Annie is precious)
- The Temptations, singing a psychadelic medley from Fiddler on the Roof (and Part 2)
- Diana Ross, joining the Temptations, in “The Rhythm of Life” (from Sweet Charity)
Old commercials for 3 Broadway Shows:
Of course, there’s still plenty of mind-bogglingly odd home movies:
- Two guys at night in a parking lot singing “Defying Gravity”
- A homemade trailer for Carrie: The Musical
- And tons and tons of Japanese animation and World of Warcraft video set to show tunes (in this case, Avenue Q)
